Yellow Ribbon Program and Yellow Ribbon Grant

The Yellow Ribbon Program is a provision of the Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008, which allows institutions of higher learning to voluntarily enter into an agreement with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to fund tuition expenses and fees that exceed the annual cap established by Congress. For more information about the Yellow Ribbon Program, visit the VA website.

CTU has established a Yellow Ribbon Grant for eligible veterans, or qualifying dependents, who meet the Post 9/11 GI Bill® transferability requirements. Eligibility and amounts are determined on an annual basis (on or after August 1) by the Department of Veteran’s Affairs based on highest in-state undergraduate rate at a public college or university.

The Yellow Ribbon Grant matches the VA Contributions to tuition and fees payments over the annual cap made to the school.

To be eligible for the Yellow Ribbon Grant, a veteran must:

  • Be accepted for admission to the University,
  • Be eligible for Chapter 33 Post-9/11 GI Bill® benefits at the 100% rate, as determined by the Department of Veterans Affairs,
  • Allow for the verification of their Post-9/11 GI Bill® eligibility via a DD-214 Member-4, or Certificate of Eligibility, or comparable government document.

Financial aid is available for those who qualify. University grants or scholarships are based on established criteria as published in the University's catalog and are awarded after verification that the conditions of eligibility have been met.

GI Bill® is a registered trademark of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). More information about education benefits offered by VA is available at the official U.S. government Web site at www.benefits.va.gov/gibill.
